Yeah, that would work. I was wanting to find a way to make it look less liney in real life too though. I think maybe charcoal or something might work? haha I have no idea. Thanks for the help though
My advice on this is to not just shade up and down cause that looks like what you did. Go back and forth as well as up and down. I don't know what you used, but I use charcoal. Smudge the opposite way you shaded. Like if you go up and down smudge side to side, and vice versa. I don't know if that helps you any, but that's my advice!
Thanks for the help! It still gets liney no matter which direction I shade it. I do it straight up and down so the lines are too crazy and chaotic in the blackness. I might try smudging them, though I'm not sure how well that'd work. I think charcoal is probably my best bet. What is the best kind of charcoal for doing the dark blacks? Is it the same hard/soft scale as graphite?
As for the lines I have that problem... bout the only thing I've found that helps a little is smudging it a bit but still that doesn't always get rid of them. Other than that a slight adjustment to contrast/brightness in photoshop helps quite alot. I always find that with that much black it doesn't scan to well either.. it can be annoying
i have no idea how he does it, but look at this guys background.... [link] maybe ask him how he gets it so solid black......and let me know when u find out.
Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 10 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
